DIY TOY BLOCKS

Over the weekend Emil and I made felt and fabric blocks for our niece who is currently on the way. It took us hours to finish. But we were happy with the results. I remade a few more to see if I could perfect the design (that's the perfectionist in me). Jinx wasn't suppose to be in the shoot but he wouldn't move out of the way. So again, we made him the star. That's our pup! Enjoy!

BABY SHOWER WEEKEND

This weekend was crazy busy! Emil and I set ourselves up with what we thought would be a piece of cake. We pulled a couple of late nights in order to get some crafty gifts ready for the two baby showers we'd be attending. Note to self: Start DIY gifts early! haha. Emil and I definitely have our own work habits. He's more of an efficient planner (which I should be), and I'm more of spontaneous-anything goes- kind of person (which he should be too). Although it may be a little hard to work together at times, it's really a blessing in disguise. It tells me that after all these years of being together we are still learning about each other. I think that's awesome. Anyway the gifts came out great but we were more excited to party with these amazing couples. It's always comforting to be around expecting mothers, newbie parents, and young married couples with kids. Whoa, did I just say that? haha. Anyway, we'll have a special post later this week on one of the gifts we made. Can't wait to share!

DIY JOURNAL

You can never have too many journals or sketch books. I've been an avid journal writer and sketch booker for a long time now. It amazes me whenever I look back at my past entries, how fast life changes. I think it's an appropriate time to start making books for our baby. I'm sure he or she would enjoy it years from now. Below is an easy DIY Journal tutorial I created with simple materials, customized with paint. Enjoy.

RECAP: THE WEEKEND

This weekend was fun yet exhausting. I don't have as much energy as I use to since being pregnant. But nonetheless I had a fantastic time hanging out. The weather here in the Bay Area was gorgeous, perfect for a day out in the sun. Emil and I attended Maker Faire. We were so inspired to dig deep into what we really love doing and actually do it. It was awesome to see the different vendors, speakers turn their hobbies, passion, interests into something bigger, a business they can profit from. Here are a few highlights from our little trip.

LOOKING BACK

I was going through old pictures and didn't realize it was just a little over a year ago Emil and I got engaged. It was nostalgic to look back at our photo shoot...and then fast forward 6 months later, our wedding! I can't help but look back and appreciate the ups and downs we went through that helped shape who we are today. I also found our wedding guestbook, which I handmade back in college (came to good use after all!). Our friend Cyril custom engraved the front with our logo. Anyway, it was a sweet surprise to read over everyone's notes. I seriously almost cried! We are truly blessed with wonderful family and friends. Below are some of the special notes we received.

DIY PUSH PIN BOARD

We've been trying to decorate our room here and there. Our walls are completely blank so we decided it was time to give it a little character! While trying to avoid putting too many holes in the wall, we thought it would be great to create a push pin board to hang our inspiration and memories. Push pin boards, cork boards, magnetic boards, and the list goes on, are typically a bit on the pricey side. So using my budget friendly crafting abilities I made my own. Besides the materials I already have at home, I used a large foam core board ($2 from Target), and light weight fabric ($2 a yard). The board and fabric together is so light you can even hang it with foam mounting tape (no holes woohoo!). All in all this project was fun, customizable, and super affordable. Enjoy!
